Description: A modern abstracted application of a traditional lotus pond inspiration

                                                Nälini is an assemblage of a lotus bed on the dining table for a unique hosting experience

lotus leaves big and small are given a modern geometric and abstracted form for dinner plates, and the each bud is a bowl that can form an entire flower.

the versatility of the dinnerware lies in its ability to morph into different nesting arrangements that add beauty and a smile to any dinner party.

there remains a lacunae in the market for unique dinnerware for hosts who enjoy spooling friends with food and laughter away from the bland, or the overdone, Something elegant and timeless for any occasion and age group. 

the timeless appeal of a lotus pond, complete with its resplendent grandeur of the full lotus in bloom, solo buds, and leaves create a landscape of zen-like beauty. The softness in contours of the leaves and buds and coral color are retained.

Ceramicware with white/majolica glaze are spellbinding in their stark beauty. Nesting shapes and angular soft contours add an interesting element to a modern simplistic application.

each lotus bud acts as a separate element that can be solo or clustered for a lotus in full bloom. 

small and big leaves act as quarter and dinner plates respectively. buds act as bowls and petals as sake/wine glasses

soft geometric abstractions of the lotus leaves and buds are explored and tested on templates for nesting opportunities

negative plaster molds are prepared from positive clay molds and left to dry. they are chiseled and sanded and prepped for slip casting on supports

Slip is prepared and left to cure overnight and poured into the molds. After a setting time, they are overturned in the slip bucket and the walls are carved out after drying and contraction. Subsequently finished with a sponge.

The nesting arrangement of the 4 piece assortment after it is bisque fired

the dinnerware is dipped in majolica glaze and finishing touches are applied with a sponge to smoothen imperfections

coral glaze is painted on the inner walls of the bowls and cups and left to dry overnight. They are subsequently fired.
